ABOUT US

The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) organizes yearly challenges as part of their Collegiate Design Series for universities to compete against each other. Baja SAE consists of three regional competitions that simulate real-world engineering design projects and the related challenges that include the planning, designing, manufacturing and marketing tasks involved in introducing a new product to the market. Members have the task to design, build and test an off-road vehicle with the purpose of withstanding all kinds of terrain. Once in the competition, the vehicle will be tested in both static and dynamic events including a 4-hour endurance race.

The main goal of the RUM Racing Baja SAE 2019 is to create an off-road vehicle from the designing phase, by going through the manufacturing and building experience, and performance testing. In order to achieve success in the competition, students must function as a team in order to make the finest vehicle that fits the requirements set by Baja SAE. The team must optimize all aspects of design and manufacturing, in order to reduce weight and size, which enhances performance. This year the team is competing in Rochester, New York.
